We are conducting semi structured interviews with current smokers that have previously engaged in a quit attempt and recently quit smokers; to understand their current sleep behaviour, perceived impact of a cigarette abstinence on sleep quality, fatigue and daytime sleepiness. We also aim to understand their perceptions of how sleep quality may effect quit attempt outcome. Additionally, we are exploring potential barriers and facilitators to engagement in traditional CBT I components and Identify potential additions smokers and ex smokers would like to see to existing CBT I frameworks. The findings from this study will inform the development of a sleep intervention tailored to smokers to aid smoking cessation.
