Notable Pacific Island Areas Ten Years After World War II: Corregidor, Philippine Islands, Midway, Manila, 1952-02-13Description from National Archives: "Twelve inch mortars which were used to defend Corregidor. LS of ruined hospital. Pieces of artillery overgrown by jungle foliage. CUs of 12 inch cannon lying on the ground. A large gun with trees growing around it. Lighthouse on the island of Corregidor. LS, MS, leading to a cave which was used for storage of supplies. Inside the cave looking out the opening. Shots made in Manila Bay from a boat showing some vessels. They look like dredging ships and barges. Several appear to be at work. MIDWAY, 15 FEB. - AVs of Midway Islands. some of these shots show towns. MANILA - Carpenters work on a new building. L and MS of Manila Hotel. This was Gen MacArthur's HQ after the liberation. Front view of the Manila Hotel.
