Extracted from U.S. Army Film "General Marshall Is Sworn In As The New Secretary Of State, 02/21/1947" National Archives description:"WOMAN SUFFRAGE: FAMOUS WOMEN: OLD NEW YORK 1900's : (NO CAPTIONS). Suffragettes, attired in prison garb getting off the train "Prison Special". The Suffragettes parading on railroad siding. (1900's) Six pickets at White House entrance during Wilson administration. In New York, women for the first time await their turn on line to vote. Mr and Mrs Alfred E Smith entering and leaving polling place. Eleanor Holm at finish of swimming race and then making a short speech on how happy she is to win the championship. Amelia Earhart acclaimed in England after her famous flight. Martin and Osa Johnson pose with two boys on return from Africa. Clare Booth Luce addressing group in Washington office. Workers coming out of factory entrance. Scenes on 42nd Street, East of 5th Avenue, in the early 1900's. Scenes in Union Square, early 1900's.
