As the title “Mahamahopadhyaya” reflects Parmeshwar Jha (1856-1924) was a noted scholar of Sanskrit and Maithili who penned as many as 39 books related to history, grammar, philosophy and others.  Durgacharit Natak is one of his noted achievements based on the mythology of Goddess Durga. Maithili author and researcher Dr Ramdeo Jha edited and republished Durgacharit Natak. Parmeshwar Jha had also written Mithila Tatwavimarsh which is useful to understand history and culture of Mithila.
