Description

The Prince of Wales's Own Quadrilles, performed at the state balls at Buckingham Palace, Almacks, the Assemblies of the Nobility, the Promenade Concerts & by the Author on his Voyage Musicale. Composed and dedicated to Her Most Gracious Majesty, The Queen, by Jullien. This set was reviewed in the The Metropolitan Magazine in 1842. They wrote "To say they are written in a style to please the present waltz and quadrille taste is no more than correct, and no more than is due to the compiers of "Old Times". They are well put together, and merit a large share of public patronage, and the notoriety which this set must have obtained, from the fact of their having been performed at Buckingham Palace, Almacks', the Promenade Concerts, and by the composer, Jullien, on his Voyage Musicale, will ensure the publishers a large return. They have our best wishes.".This copy claims to be the second edition, so may date to a little later.  You can read more about dancing the first set of quadrilles here: https://www.regencydances.org/paper021.php .
