Present-day knowledge of Saturn*s rings is reflected.The results of observations of Saturn*s rings areanalyzed in detail, and a number of conclusions as tothe nature of the rings are formulated. Particularattention is given to the quantitative theory of changein the brightness of the rings with phase angle, whichis then used to estimate the principal physical magnitudesthat characterize the rings as a whole, as wellas a typical particle of the rings.
