I examine the Amiga's lesser-known Wipe-Out game. At its core, it's Tron with hoverboards rather than light cycles, played against enemy AI or a friend via the split-screen view. Whilst avoiding collision with energy trails and walls, power-ups can be collected to confer enhancements such as brakes or a suped-up engine.Betting on the outcome of bouts and climbing the leaderboard represents the other side of the equation, introducing deeper management elements to counterbalance the game's action-oriented focus.
