Description

George Perry's Alice Gray Quadrilles were, according to an advert in the Norfolk Chronicle (23rd of May 1829), published in 1829. This copy has the date 1829 written on the cover in ink. They were issued through Alfred Pettet's music shop in Oxford Street, London. The title "Alice Gray" probably alludes to the 1827 ballad of the same name by G.W. Reeve. These quadrilles are arranged to be consistent with the dance figures of the First Set of Quadrilles. The tunes contained within are:Alice GrayI'll away to the surf-beaten shoreI prithee give me back my heartThe Birks of AberfeldyThe Soldiers returnAlice Gray Waltz
