Dedicated by Permission to her Royal Highness Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa, Princess RoyalJoseph Lowe (1796-1866) began teaching dance to the children of Queen Victoria in September of 1852, a few months later he created this publication dedicated "By Permission" to the Princess Royal. The collection contains music and dance notation for a variety of social dances, including several novelty dances of a style that were developed in London around 1820.
